One of the biggest problems most people face when it comes to getting their computer running properly is with their microphone.

You will be surprised at just how often the microphone can randomly stop working. In this article I want to run you through a couple of solutions which help you get it working again! Let’s run through it!

Double Check Your Volume

Firstly, I know this may seem obvious, but you are going to need to check whether the microphone volume is turned up or not.

The way in which you do this will depend on the software that you are trying to get it working in. You will be surprised at how often this is the problem. Don’t read through the rest of the article if you haven’t done this!

Test If Your Microphone is Defect

If that doesn’t work, then you are going to need to work out whether your microphone is working or defect. This is pretty much going to be impossible on your computer (as obviously you know it doesn’t work there). Instead you are going to need to use somebody else’s computer. If it works there, then you are going to follow the last step of the solution. If it doesn’t, it is likely you need a new microphone!

Update Your Microphone Driver

If neither of these solutions work then the most likely problem is with the drivers for the microphone. Don’t worry, this isn’t a scary problem to solve! Basically, it means that there is a problem with the way in which your microphone is talking / corresponding with your computer. This is most likely down to a software error. This problem can be solved by either updating your drivers or reinstalling them.

The first thing you are going to need to work out is whether there is a problem with the microphone or the USB slot you are plugging it into (or the sound card if you aren’t using a USB microphone). You can do this by testing various devices and seeing if they work. This will help you determine what you need to search for online.

Once you have established where the problem is, you need to grab the name of the driver. You don’t want the generic name, you want to be as accurate as possible. After that, head onto Google and find the right driver. Make sure you download the EXACT one for your operating system otherwise you could end up with an even more serious problem on your hands.

Recommendation: Installing drivers is hard, in fact, many computer experts avoid it due to the amount that can go wrong. This is why I suggest you use a program called “Driver Turbo“ which will ensure that you find the right drivers each and every time, all by pressing a couple of buttons!

If you are suffering from microphone problems then I seriously do suggest that you give Driver Turbo a spin today. You will be surprised at just how easily it will find the right drivers for you, and of course allow you to get your microphone working sooner rather than later.

Honestly, there is nothing worse than whipping out a game or DVD that you want to play and suddenly finding that your DVD or CD Drive is nowhere to be seen. Thankfully, in most cases this a problem that is fairly easy to solve. I want to run you through some of best solutions for doing this!

The first thing you are going to need to do is open up the hardware troubleshooter which is located on your Windows operating system. The location varies depending on which version of Windows you are using, so if you don’t know where it is, a quick Google search should point you in the right direction.

This hardware troubleshooter will run through your hardware and check if there are any problems, if there are, it will attempt to fix then. Hopefully this should get your disc drive up and running again.

Why is my CD Drive or DVD Drive is Missing?

Sometimes a problem within the computer’s registry may actually be causing the problem. I do not suggest that you fix this manually, you will end up corrupting your computer if you don’t know what you are doing. Instead, you should work on the next solution as in my opinion this will fix the majority of missing disc drive errors.

Important: In my experience, most of the time the problem is going to be down to corrupt or missing drivers. This means that you are going to need to carry out a bit of work. This will involve identifying the cd disc drive that you have by name, heading online and finding the right drivers for your computer (there will most likely be multiple versions, it is important that you choose the right one).

Once you have done this, install the drivers as per the instructions you were provided. Hopefully this should fix the problem, and most of the time it does. Sadly though, I don’t think this is an ideal solution for those who are completely inexperienced with computers. Don’t worry though, we have a solution.

Now, I am going to be honest with you, installing updated drivers for your CD or DVD drive is actually a daunting experience, even experienced computer technicians absolutely loathe it. After all, if you end up installing the wrong driver, you could mess up your whole system.

Use Driver Turbo to Update Your CD / DVD Rom Drivers

This is why I suggest that you use a product known as Driver Turbo. This fantastic piece of software trawls the World Wide Web for the right driver for you, which means that you don’t have to. You are just going to end up with a working piece of hardware.

Of course, if Driver Turbo doesn’t fix the problem (and it should do in most cases!) it is likely that the whole problem is down to hardware failure, and that sadly means you are going to need to replace your CD or DVD Drive. Don’t worry though, they are fairly cheap nowadays. It should be fairly simple for you to install too!

Peripheral Component Interconnect, better known as PCI is a system developed by Intel in the early 90′s.

It was developed as a method of interfacing hardware components with the motherboard and ensures that information is carried between each of the components properly.

This system has now been superseded, and any computer manufactured after the early 2000′s will use PCI-Express instead as a method of connecting the components, although the information in this article will be relevant for those components too.

Almost every ‘hardware’ component in your computer will be interfaced by PCI, this means your sound card, graphics card, Ethernet card and much more. In short it is going to be useful to know how to update drivers.

So what are drivers?

Well, to put it in the simplest way possible, these are the small pieces of software which tell the hardware how to interact with the operating system. Basically, it is telling the hardware what it is.

Every piece of hardware needs a driver on your computer in order to function. Of course, like most pieces of software, drivers can go wrong from time to time and this can throw up a whole host of different problems. Let’s take a little look at how you can update them.

How Update Your PCI Drivers

Firstly, you are going to need to identify what computer component isn’t functioning properly.

This is half of the game here, sometimes it is obvious, and sometimes it is going to take a bit of investigation. Once you have identified the component which is causing the issues you need to find out its name.

This should hopefully be simple if you go into your control panel and select system, although sometimes things have generic names which makes it slightly more difficult. Once you have found out the name of the component you need to head online and track down the right drivers for your computer, and this is where the difficulty starts.

You will need to not only find the right one for your hardware, but also for the operating system and the like. It will take a bit of searching! Once you have found the driver, it could be a straight ‘executable’ installer. Or you may need to go into your computer system and update the drivers that way. Sometimes you may even need to update the Windows registry.

Be careful: If you don’t download the right drivers or install them wrong then you could end up causing severe problems for your computer.

If you find that one of your PCI devices isn’t working as well as it should (or not at all!) then I don’t suggest that you go through the rather long-winded method that I mentioned previously.

Instead you should look into a rather nifty piece of software known as Driver Turbo. This software finds the correct drivers for your computer automatically, and even updates older ones. This means that you don’t need to go through the rigmarole of finding the right driver for your computer online, after all, if you end up choosing the wrong one it can throw up all manner of problems.

Using Driver Turbo, as recommended by professionals is without a doubt the best way for anybody to ensure that their computer remains in tip top working condition.

In the latest operating systems, one of the biggest problems people are having when it comes to choosing the correct drivers for their computer is deciding whether they need 32-Bit or 64-Bit drivers.

Almost all recent versions of Windows are available in both 32-Bit and 64-Bit versions, and if you don’t choose the right drivers to match your hardware then it simply will not work.

So what is the difference between 32-Bit systems and 64-Bits systems?

Well, to put it in the simplest way possible, 64-bit systems are far more efficient at what they do. This is because they are able to send packets of data with double the amount of information, which means tasks can be accomplished faster.

This of course means that drivers which are written for 32-Bit systems will not be efficient, and in some cases will not work at all.

Using 64-Bit drivers on a 32-Bit system and you are opening yourself up to a whole host of trouble, and you can look forward to that blue screen of death quite often.

Tip: Finding out whether you have a 32-Bit system or 64-Bit is half the battle. Thankfully, finding out this information is incredibly easy on Windows 7 or Vista. All you need to do is follow these steps:

Click on the start menu and go to your Control Panel.

Select the option called ‘System and Security‘.

Select ‘System‘.

Select the option which allows you to view basic information on the computer.

Somewhere under system type it will tell you whether you have a 32-Bit of 64-Bit system.

Once you have found that out, you need to go and track down the right drivers for your computer system. Most of the time these can be found directly on the manufacturer’s website, although for some slightly more generic computer components you may need to look further afield for the right drivers.

Only Install System Specific Drivers

It is of utmost importance that you only use the right drivers for your computer and install them in the correct way, otherwise you are going to be opening yourself up to a whole host of problems, and in some of the major hardware it may mean that your computer won’t boot at all, which is of course not going to be good.

Of course, this is a rather long-winded way of ensuring that you end up with the correct drivers for your computer. Many people recommend (including some leading professionals) the use of a piece of software known as Driver Turbo.

Our driver software is able to quickly identify whether you are running on a 32-Bit or 64-Bit system and then track down the best drivers to suit.

This means that you aren’t going to have to suffer through a constant barrage of error messages if you choose the wrong drivers, or even trudging from website to website in order to find the right fit for you. Driver Turbo ensures that you get it right every single time.

It is incredibly annoying if you are in the middle of a game and suddenly DirectX Driver Problems occur, whether the game shuts down completely or just decides to run slow.

In fact, sometimes it can even cause games to not boot up at all. In this article we are going to take a look at potential solutions for this problem, and hopefully that should stop you experiencing DirectX Driver Problems ever again.

Double Check DirectX Requirements

Firstly, if the problem is centered on one game then it is worth considering the requirements of that particular game when it comes to DirectX.

For example, do you have the latest version of DirectX installed on your computer?

If you don’t then you will need to download it from the Microsoft website. Sometimes you may be displaying in a higher resolution than your monitor intended.

Again, this can cause DirectX Driver problems and thus you will need to change the in game resolution to match that of your monitor. In most cases, this should help with DirectX Driver Problems. If it doesn’t, then there is one last step for you to do.

DirectX Diagnostic Tool

Firstly, you are going to need to open up the DirectX Diagnostic Tool. To do this, hit that start button and type dxdiag. Press enter and the diagnostic tool will open up.

I presume this will be your first time opening up the diagnostic tool, so it will ask you whether you wish to digitally sign your drivers. Select the option that allows it to do this as it will be incredibly important when it comes to diagnosing your problems.

The majority of the problems are going to be centered around your video card. On the tab which says ‘Display’, under ‘DirectX Features’ you want to ensure that the options for DirectDraw, Direct3D and AGP Texture Acceleration are enabled. If they are not enabled, then you will need to enable them.

You can also turn on hardware acceleration by following these steps:

Click the start button, go to control panel, appearance and personalization and then clicking the adjust screen resolution. Click advanced settings.

Click troubleshoot and then ‘Change Settings’

Change Hardware Acceleration to ‘Full’

In most cases this should clear up any DirectX Driver problems instantly. If not though, you will need to update the video card drivers (more on that soon).

In some cases, a problem with your game controller may be causing the issue. If it doesn’t appear under ‘input’ in the DirectX diagnostic tool then that’s the problem. Often unplugging and putting it back in will help, however not always. Again, you may need to update your video card drivers.

In order to be compatible with DirectX, drivers need to be digitally signed. If they aren’t, then they may not function correctly. When you run the DirectX Diagnostic tool, it will tell you whether the drivers have been digitally signed or not. If they haven’t, then they need to be updated.

Whilst you can update drivers manually, it isn’t always recommended. Instead, you should use software such as Driver Turbo which will automatically find the right drivers for you and then install them. This should hopefully cure your DirectX Driver problems once and for all.

This feature has come as standard on Windows since Windows 95, and thus if you are having Direct3D Device Driver Problems then you have a big problem to deal with. Let me walk you through how you can solve it.

Often, the error will be centralized to one game. The first thing you should do is update DirectX. In fact; you should be doing this on a regular basis anyway. Once this is done, check if the game works. If not, you will need to access the Diagnostic Panel.

Access Your Diagnostic Panel

To open up the Diagnostic Panel click the ‘Start’ button, and then ‘Run’. Type in dxdiag.exe. It will then ask you to ‘digitally sign’ your drivers. Select ‘Yes’.

The first thing you are going to need to check is whether DirectX 3D is turned on. To do this, open up the display tab in the diagnostic tool and look at DirectX Features.

This will indicate whether it is turned on or not. If it isn’t, then you will need to enable it. If it is enabled and you are still suffering from problems then you will need to look into other solutions, one of those being an update of your computer drivers.

Update Your Direct3D Device Driver

In most cases, installing updated drivers is going to be your best bet for solving Direct3D Device Driver Problems. This because in a lot of cases glitches in the original driver software have now come to light and for some reason is not allowing Windows to recognize your device as a Direct3D Device (even though it should do).

Don’t worry though, software developers are normally at the top of their game and would have released an updated version already.

Now, there are two ways that you can go about installing updated drivers for your device:

The first is to install new drivers manually. To do this you will need to identify the exact device that is having a problem. Going to the manufacturer’s website and downloading the exact driver for your computer and then following the instructions to install it.

The second option is to use a driver software called ‘Driver Turbo’ which will do all of this for you.

I always recommend the second option as the first option not only takes time, but a lot can go wrong with it. For example, if you download the wrong driver to begin with, then it can actually make the problem far worse (and more difficult to solve), and believe me when I say that finding the right drivers isn’t easy.

With Driver Turbo it will find the exact things you need in double quick time and then install them. Absolutely no hassle involved. Whichever solution you use however, both should hopefully solve all your “Can not find the Direct3D Device problems” once and for all.

USB Devices seem to be everywhere you look now, from the MP3 Player all the way through to a weird cup warmer.

However, they all seem to suffer from the same problem. This is the fact that every so often a message will pop up which says ‘USB Device not Recognized’ and of course this means that it isn’t going to work at all. How do you fix this? Let us explain.

Fix USB Driver Problem

If you are greeted with this error the first thing you will want to do is to unplug the device followed by a complete restart of your computer. When the computer has fully loaded up again you should plug in the device.

The majority of the time this will actually solve the problem, so you can give yourself a little pat on the back! If it doesn’t then there are a number of solutions that you can use to look into this in more depth.

The next thing you are going to want to do is to swap over the USB Cable. Sadly, cables from time to time do diminish in quality and swapping them over may be the thing that you need. Again, like the first problem this should work for you and you may not need to do anything else. If it doesn’t however, the problem may be much more deep rooted.

Firstly, try the device out on another computer. If it works or is recognized then that is great, this problem is easy to fix. If it isn’t recognized however then you may have a faulty device which needs replacing. Of course, the replacement of it is out of the scope of this guide. If it works but still doesn’t on your computer then use the final step which should kick into gear.

Identify USB Driver Problems

The final solution will be to look to see whether the USB drivers are corrupted or not. If you tried the previous solutions then there is a good chance that there is a problem within your computer. In case you didn’t know, drivers are small bits of software which basically tell the device what to do when it is hooked up to the computer.

Like most other software, problems can occur from time to time, thankfully however, the software developers often fix problems quickly. However, you won’t get these updates automatically. Instead you would need to use software such as Driver Turbo to find the right drivers for your computer and install them – Click Here To Download DriverTurbo) RECOMMENDED. It is never recommended that you get the drivers yourself as you don’t want to get something that is completely outdated as this will make the problem much worse.

Hopefully the information in this guide is going to help you eradicate those pesky USB Driver Problems once and for all! The best part is, the software I mentioned should help you with almost any problems that happen on your computer in the future, whether they be related to drivers or not.

Device drivers are there to perform a vital function in your computer. Information is being translated by these small programs and then conveyed between the hardware and software of your PC. They pose as relay stations within these parts which offer a mutual platform for information. The devices of your computer will not function properly without such drivers.

Although you may have drivers present in your computer, you may still face a few problems. If the drivers are outdated or corrupted they will create hardware malfunction, communication hazards and file errors in Windows. A few general problems may surface e.g. screen/video problems, printing malfunctions and sound malfunctions.

Corrupt device drivers may affect certain features individually, or may even cause a complete failure of a particular device. The operating system used by you should have a driver that matches it’s version for each such device.

A graphics driver that works well in Windows XP will either not match the Windows 7 version or will provide a poor performance through its various functions. Under most circumstances, the faulty driver won’t perform at all. Corrupted or outdated drivers may display a “blue screen” or cause a freezing display, glitches for certain programs, slow performance etc. You may follow a few good troubleshooting tips for your drivers.

Troubleshooting Tips for your Drivers

Uninstall faulty drivers – you may need to overcome a few errors during installation. Once you re-install drivers you may get rid of such errors. You may open your device manager by running the command devmgnt.msc in order to check the drivers and get them uninstalled when required.

Drivers should be updated – outdated drivers may often encourage glitches all along. Latest devices may also consider a few driver configurations as ‘obsolete’. Such problems can be resolved when you update your drivers.

Windows should be updated – it might also pose a problem when your Windows version gets outdated and fails to live up to the programs that you use. Keep an eye on whether you need to update Windows.

Keep an eye on wrong registry entries – the registry gets updated with driver’s configurations. If such updates are wrong, then your drivers may not perform well.

Driver maintenance is often a time-consuming and tedious task. You may do it a hassle-free way if you manually update software or get driver scanner.

Of course, you’ll always find it easier if you get a driver update software. Go through the reviews before you pick a driver update software, as this will save much of your invaluable time that you’d otherwise spend over your drivers.

When you surf the web, you’re bound to come across a few good review sites. Not all websites are good with their reviews. Some of them present a detailed account of various problems and their possible solutions.

Choose ones that depict impartial and thorough reviews for quite some time. This way, you’ll be able to handle your driver problems in an efficient manner. Solving your driver problems will ensure a smooth running of your computer system.
